You’re more than a client, you’re my neighbor and friend.

Amanda Poteet Woolen, LCPM

Rooted in trust, guided by intuition, and held in love—welcome to Bluegrass Midwifery & Women’s Wellness.

I’m Amanda Poteet Woolen, a Licensed Certified Professional Midwife, mother of three, and a firm believer that women’s health is essential, childbirth is sacred, powerful, and all are yours to own. I offer various options for well women care and home birth care to healthy, low-risk families seeking a natural and supported start to parenthood.

I’ve spent the last 15+ years walking alongside women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as a DONA-trained doula, lactation counselor, placenta encapsulation specialist and now as a Licensed Certified Professional Midwife. My journey into midwifery began long before I ever caught a baby—back when I was just a young girl with big dreams and a deep knowing that this work was mine to do.

I’m a mother to three spirited daughters—Layla, Vivian, and Valery—and I’ve experienced both hospital and home birth personally. Those births shaped my path, sharpened my intuition, and deepened my calling to support families seeking something different. Something rooted. Something primal and real.

Bluegrass Midwifery & Women’s Wellness was born from that calling, and it’s a reflection of who I am and how I care. I serve low-risk families—English, Amish, Mennonite, and all in between—offering personalized, evidence-based care with the gentle, grounded presence that defines midwifery. My office is nestled in my home town of Munfordville right in the middle of Hart County, Kentucky.  My work takes me everywhere yet I remain just a stone’s throw away from the place I’ll always call home.

I believe birth belongs to the birthing person. My care is inclusive, affirming, and rooted in the belief that everyone deserves autonomy and reverence in their feminine health journey. I am proud to support families of all races, religions, communities and orientations, including the LGBTQ+ community.

Over the years, I’ve supported thousands of families—through vaginal, cesarean and vbac births, various breastfeeding challenges, miscarriage and loss, spinning babies care, placenta encapsulation, and everything in between. I don’t just show up with a birth bag—I show up as part of your village. I believe in nurturing not just babies, but mothers, families, and futures.

If you’re looking for a midwife who sees you, hears you, and walks with you every step of the way—you’re in the right place. I’d be honored to walk this sacred path with you.
